Ady Josefina Matos, LMSW
Bilingual Therapist (English & Spanish)
Ady Josefina Matos is a compassionate, bilingual therapist who believes healing happens through collaboration, trust, and understanding. She approaches therapy with the belief that while she may be the therapist, you are the expert of your own life—and together, you work as a team toward growth and emotional well-being.
Her guiding affirmation reflects this belief:
“I might be the therapist, but you are the one going through your challenges, so we are working together—you are helping me to help you thrive.”
Ady creates a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She understands that life’s challenges—whether anxiety, trauma, family conflict, or major life transitions—can feel overwhelming, and she is committed to helping clients develop the tools they need to feel more grounded, confident, and resilient.
She works with children (6+), pre-teens, teenagers, young adults, adults, couples, families, veterans, and women, offering support for concerns such as anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, substance use, family conflict, and identity exploration. Ady also supports members of the LGBTQ+ community with culturally sensitive and affirming care.
Ady integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family and Marital Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals.
She earned her Master of Social Work from New York University and completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. Her academic background, combined with her genuine empathy, allows her to support clients from a holistic and culturally responsive perspective.
Outside of therapy, Ady enjoys reading, watching movies, gardening, and spending quality time with her immediate and extended family—values that reflect her deep appreciation for connection and balance.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, Ady is here to walk alongside you with compassion, clarity, and care.
