Betsy LaRose, FNP-C, BC
Betsy LaRose, FNP-C, BC, received her Master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from Stony Brook University in 2019 after working as a registered nurse for seven years. She worked as a cardiology nurse practitioner in inpatient and outpatient settings and a hospitalist position. Her interest in mental health began when she worked in a primary care setting and a nursing home. She wanted to provide her undivided attention to patients with mental and emotional health concerns.
At SMPSychotherapy, Betsy works to build relationships with her patients by spending more time focusing on their needs and getting to know them as a whole and not just their physical condition. She focuses on providing self-care skills, education about medications and other mental health care options, listening to patient experiences and providing continuity of care to ensure continued growth and success.
Betsy helps patients manage medication and coordinate therapeutic services for anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, bipolar, and ADHD. She also has experience working with aging populations with dementia and other conditions.
When patients spend time with Betsy, they find it easy to share their stories and emotions. Her in-depth assessment and listening skills allow her to determine patient needs and adjust treatment and therapy sessions accordingly. Betsy’s goal is to empower patients to explore what they need to improve their lives and promote self-healing. She accomplishes this by helping them identify triggers, learn to cope with them, and build a life that makes them proud.
