Jessica SimmsLicensed Master Social Worker
Hybrid Therapist (Telehealth & Hartford)

Jessica Simms, LMSW, has an adventurous side. She loves the excitement of driving, racing, and experiences that bring a little energy into life. That same vibrant spirit shows up in the therapy room—not as rushing through the process, but as a genuine belief that life can move forward, relationships can grow, and change is always worth pursuing.

One phrase captures Jessica’s approach beautifully: “I am here, I am present, and I am trying.”

For Jessica, those words carry weight. Being here means you showed up. Being present means you are willing to engage with what is happening in your life, even when it is uncomfortable. And trying means the story is still being written. There is still room for healing, another conversation, a different choice, a restored relationship, or a new version of yourself. When someone is willing to be present and participate in the process, the possibilities for growth can open in unexpected ways.

Jessica brings that hopeful, compassionate energy to her work as a Licensed Master Social Worker. She especially enjoys working with couples and families, helping people navigate communication challenges, marital and premarital concerns, conflict, emotional disconnection, life changes, and the complicated moments when people love each other but aren’t quite sure how to move forward together.

She also provides Christian and faith-based counseling for clients who want their faith to be an intentional part of therapy. Jessica creates space to explore emotional and relational concerns alongside a client’s Christian beliefs and values, while meeting each person with compassion and respect.

Her experience extends across many seasons of life—from young children and teens finding their footing, to college students and adults navigating identity and transition, to couples, families, veterans, and older adults facing change, loss, relationships, and new chapters. Her work can support clients experiencing depression, ADHD, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, family conflict, addiction or substance use, and other emotional challenges.

Jessica draws from compassion-focused, trauma-focused, family systems, marital and family therapy, and Christian counseling approaches. Rather than treating clients like a diagnosis or checklist, she looks at the whole person—and, when working with couples and families, the relationships and systems surrounding them.

Jessica is excited to welcome new clients at SMPsychotherapy & Counseling Services. She will offer in-office therapy at our Hartford, Connecticut location as well as telehealth therapy, providing flexibility for individuals, couples, and families seeking support.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Sometimes the most important place to start is simply: “I am here. I am present. And I am trying.”
