Sharon McGee, LMSW, is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a profound commitment to mental health and well-being. Her academic journey began at Springfield College, where she earned a Bachelor of Human Services. Later, she pursued her passion for mental health, obtaining a Master’s degree in Social Work with a minor in health from the University of St. Joseph.
Sharon’s entry into the mental health field was inspired by personal experiences, particularly caring for her grandfather with Alzheimer’s. This exposure to the challenges faced by individuals in nursing homes sparked a deep connection with the younger generation dealing with mental health issues.
With over two decades of experience, Sharon has traversed from working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in nursing homes to serving as a case manager in the community. Her diverse background includes advocating for clients in psychiatric units, facilitating support groups, and offering comprehensive case management.
Sharon specializes in working with clients facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Beyond individual therapy, she actively engages in peer support and wellness groups, addressing a spectrum of mental health concerns. Utilizing modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sharon tailors her approach to suit each client’s preferences and comfort level.
Sharon stands out due to her dedication to understanding her clients beyond their mental health challenges. She takes the time to connect personally, fostering an environment where her clients feel heard and supported. Her approach is grounded in empathy, relatability, and a genuine desire to understand her clients’ stories. Her ability to meet individuals where they are emotionally and mentally sets her apart from others. She values collaboration and ensures that the services she provides align with the unique needs of each client.
Beyond her professional life, Sharon enjoys shopping and indulging in her passion for food. A self-proclaimed foodie, she appreciates the joy that comes from savoring diverse cuisines.
