Psychedelic Therapy for Couples
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for Couples in Connecticut
“A deeper path to healing, understanding, and reconnection”
The only legal psychedelic therapy available in CT
What if the conflict in your relationship is not the real problem—but a signal that something deeper needs healing?
What if the same arguments keep happening because both of you are carrying emotional pain that has never been fully processed?
What if, instead of feeling stuck in the same patterns, you could finally understand each other with deeper empathy and clarity?
I work with couples who love each other—but feel trapped in cycles they don’t know how to change.
You may both be responsible, hardworking, and committed to your relationship, yet emotionally exhausted by repeated conflict, misunderstandings, or distance.
Many couples who come to see me say something similar:
“We want this relationship to work—we just don’t know how to get there.”
At SMPsychotherapy & Counseling Services, I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for couples in Connecticut as a structured therapeutic process designed to help partners reconnect, process emotional pain, and rebuild a stronger relationship.
This approach combines psychotherapy with ketamine treatment in a carefully guided and supportive environment that encourages emotional insight, empathy, and deeper connection.
I welcome all couples, including those in the LGBTQ+ community, and provide a safe, affirming, and respectful space for every relationship.
When Couples Feel Stuck
Many couples seeking this type of therapy still deeply care about one another.
But the relationship may feel weighed down by patterns that keep repeating.
Some couples feel emotionally distant.
Others find themselves having the same arguments over and over again.
Sometimes depression, anxiety, trauma, or stress quietly begins affecting the relationship.
Over time, partners may start to feel:
- unheard or misunderstood
- emotionally disconnected
- exhausted by ongoing conflict
- hurt by unresolved past experiences
- uncertain how to rebuild trust or intimacy
Even when couples want to repair their relationship, traditional conversations sometimes keep circling back to the same place.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy can help couples step outside those patterns and explore their relationship from a different perspective.
Why Couples Seek Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Couples who explore KAP are often deeply motivated to grow—not only individually, but together.
They want a relationship that feels:
- emotionally safe
- connected and supportive
- honest and compassionate
- resilient through life’s challenges
- aligned with shared values and purpose
Many couples are no longer satisfied with simply managing conflict.
They want deeper understanding.
They want emotional healing.
They want to rediscover connection and the reasons they chose each other.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy creates a therapeutic environment where partners can slow down, reflect, and access emotions that are often difficult to reach in traditional therapy.
What Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for Couples?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a structured therapeutic approach that combines psychotherapy with the medical use of ketamine under professional supervision.
Ketamine has been shown to help reduce symptoms of depression, trauma, and emotional rigidity, allowing individuals to access thoughts and emotions from a different perspective.
Within therapy, it can help couples:
- soften defensive patterns
- increase emotional openness
- develop deeper empathy for one another
- process unresolved emotional pain
- experience new perspectives on their relationship
Ketamine itself is not the therapy.
The transformation occurs through the combination of the medicine experience and the therapeutic integration that follows.
The Couples KAP Process
My approach to Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy follows a structured and thoughtful process designed to support safety, clarity, and emotional readiness.
1. Readiness Consultation
The first step is a KAP Readiness Consultation, where we explore:
- your relationship goals
- the challenges you are currently facing
- emotional and psychological readiness
- whether Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is the right fit
2. Medical Evaluation
Before beginning the therapeutic process, each participant must complete a medical evaluation with a qualified prescribing provider.
This evaluation ensures ketamine treatment is safe and appropriate based on your medical history, medications, and overall health.
Only after medical clearance do we move forward with preparation sessions.
3. Preparation Sessions
Preparation sessions help build the foundation for the work ahead.
During these sessions we explore:
- your relationship history
- communication patterns
- emotional intentions for the process
- safety and expectations
These sessions ensure both partners feel supported and prepared before the dosing experience.
4. Ketamine Dosing Sessions
Ketamine dosing sessions are approximately three hours long and take place in a calm and supportive therapeutic environment.
During these sessions I guide the therapeutic process while partners engage in reflection and emotional exploration.
The goal is to allow new insight, emotional openness, and deeper understanding to emerge.
5. Integration Sessions
Integration sessions follow each dosing experience.
These sessions are essential because they help couples:
- process insights and emotional experiences
- translate new awareness into real relationship change
- strengthen communication and empathy
- rebuild connection and trust
Integration is where much of the lasting transformation occurs.
Program Structure and Investment
A typical Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy program for couples includes:
- Medical evaluation with a prescribing provider
- 3 preparation sessions
- 6–8 ketamine dosing sessions
- 6–8 integration sessions
Couples Session Investment
Each couples session is $500 per session.
This includes the extended time required for couples work and the depth of therapeutic facilitation involved in the process.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a structured program designed to support meaningful emotional and relational healing.
