Marisa LaBrecque, LPC

marisaMarisa LaBrecque, LPC, is a therapist with extensive experience helping people manage grief, substance use disorders, and other mental health concerns. She finished her Master’s in clinical mental health counseling in 2020. Marisa leverages her experience in research to offer clients the best clinical services for their needs.

Marisa began her career in 2019, working with clients on parole, probation, or involved with DCF. Court-mandated sessions allowed her the opportunity to learn to establish rapport and gain her clients’ trust. Marisa also ran a cognitive behavioral therapy group for women and a men’s stress management group.

As a methadone counselor and case manager for SCADD, Marisa helped people navigate the struggles of addiction and other mental health concerns. She possesses a wealth of knowledge about the resources people can access when struggling with addiction. While she enjoyed helping clients in that role, she wanted more time with each client to address the issues they dealt with.

Marisa joins SMPsychotherapy with a desire to combine the science of counseling with more in-depth relationships with her clients. She hopes to use the flexibility of private practice to seek additional training to improve her techniques. Marisa is available to work with adults looking for help navigating family dynamics, grief, trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence, major depression, bipolar disorder, improving mindfulness, anxiety, and career counseling. Marisa is also available for clients who are sex offenders or have a criminal background.

Marisa offers an individualized approach using the modalities that best suit each client. She believes conversations focused on empathy and compassion help us process difficult emotions. Marisa’s clients love her realistic approach and an environment that facilitates growth and healing.

Marisa is now accepting new clients in the state of Connecticut.
