John Martinez is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) with a clinical master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Neuropsychology from the University of Puerto Rico and another bachelor\u2019s degree in Clinical Psychology with a minor in development from Post University.<\/p>\n

His journey in the mental health field began at 17 years old, as a Mental Health Technician at Capistrano Hospital in Puerto Rico, where he spent four years. Upon moving to Connecticut, he joined Advanced Behavioral Health, progressing from an Intensive Mental Health Case Manager to an Intensive Clinical Case Manager, specializing in co-occurring disorders.<\/p>\n

John’s diverse experience includes working in Community Mental Health Facilities, as a Family Support Specialist, and later as a Pediatric Trauma Clinician. Currently, he is a Bilingual Outpatient Clinician at CHC Community Health Center, providing expertise in family, couples, sexual problems, autism, and trauma.<\/p>\n

His systemic therapeutic approach incorporates modalities such as Family Structural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT, TF-CBT, and Fest. He specializes in treating grief and trauma, including sexual abuse cases.<\/p>\n

John’s ultimate goal is for clients to become self-sufficient, aiming for them to “fire” him as a sign of acquiring the tools for a stable life. His unique approach lies in meeting clients where they are, empowering them to regain ownership of their lives.<\/p>\n

When he\u2019s not helping his clients, John prioritizes self-care through travel, enjoying road trips with his wife and two children aged nine and six. As a parent, John empathizes with the challenges of family life and integrates understanding and collaboration into his therapeutic approach.<\/p>\n

John is available on weekdays in the early morning and evenings, with some Saturday availability. He offers services to both English and Spanish-speaking clients.
